Qualmark gives Waiheke Island Wine Tours the seal of approval

Drinks at MudbrickWaiheke Island Wine Tours has been recognised as one of the country’s leading tourism operators by Qualmark – New Zealand tourism’s official quality assurance, and is the first Waiheke Island tour operator to be granted this prestigious mark.

The company underwent a comprehensive on-site assessment to ensure it met all the appropriate criteria, focusing on the service, facilities, safety and operating systems in place.  Qualmark’s endorsement programme offers quality assurance for a full range of tourism operations, such as adventure activities, transport providers, cultural and nature experiences.

Owners of the company Wayne Eagleton and Jean Goodbrand saw the opportunity to offer high-end vineyard tours that both the novice and the connoisseur would enjoy. ‘After a highly successful first year’s trading, being assessed by Qualmark was a natural next-step for us,’ said Ms. Goodbrand ‘we are serious about what we do and we give our clients a wonderful day out on Waiheke Island.  Being Qualmark-accredited assures prospective clients that they will enjoy a quality tourism experience.’

In the past 10 years Waiheke Island has gained a solid international reputation, its winemakers consistently producing award-winning wines at an international level. Top vineyards in the company’s repertoire include Obsidian, Jurassic Ridge, Kennedy Point, Peacock Sky, Cable Bay and Mudbrick, all of whom provide outstanding experiences.

‘No matter what the day is like weather-wise, our clients are blown away by the island’s scenic beauty, the vineyards we visit, the people we meet and the fun we have. They all return home with big smiles on their faces and great stories to tell their friends about their day trip to paradise’ said Mr. Eagleton who has now hosted over 1000 clients on vineyard excursions.
