2013 Vintage Report from Cable Bay Vineyards

We received this report from the team at Cable Bay in June 2013

“We harvested our first lot of Pinot Gris on the 28th February, almost 2 weeks earlier than last year!

The last of the Syrah was safely brought in on the 9th April, and the Cabernet Sauvignon bringing up the rear on the 12th April, a few days before the drought broke.

Central Otago experienced a great season as well.  The Pinot Noir vineyard at Northburn Station on the banks of Lake Dunstan is a great site even in the worst of years, so it goes without saying that the quality of the fruit we received was outstanding. All 5 clones are powerful and pretty in their own way.

So with all the fruit in, the wines finishing or recently finished their fermentations and safely tucked away in barrel, we are left waiting with excitement and anticipation to see how they will evolve.”
